Estimate when to check your coffee machine for scale using your water hardness, number of drinks and machine type. For specific machines, the manufacturer’s descaling counter or instructions take priority. A cleaning cycle and a descaling cycle are different procedures.
Descaling Calculator
The general check reminder is an editorial planning rule, not a manufacturer descaling interval. Hardness is entered as CaCO3. Use the water hardness converter if your test strip uses another unit. A filter can change scale exposure; this tool does not assume one is installed.
How this estimate works
The general reminder starts at 90 days and is shortened as measured hardness and daily use increase. Machine type adjusts the reminder modestly. It is rounded to a week and limited to 21–120 days. This is a date to check the manual, settings and scale indicators. It does not claim that descaling is required on that date. For K-Supreme, we additionally estimate when its 250-brew alert might appear. For Vertuo Next, we show Nespresso’s three-month or 300-capsule guidance, whichever comes first. These estimates assume steady use since the entered date; use the machine’s real counter when available.
If water flow is restricted, check routine blockages before running a descaling cycle. Follow your model’s solution, dosage and rinse instructions; do not use a cleaning tablet as a descaler.
