Quick answer: If milk foam from a JURA E8 is weak or sprays, dried milk may be clogging the fine-foam frother. Let it cool, remove the milk pipe and rinse it under running water, remove the frother, separate its designed parts, rinse each one and reassemble firmly. For stubborn dried residue, the E8 manual allows soaking the pieces in 8.5 oz (250 mL) of water with one dosing unit of JURA milk-system cleaner, followed by a thorough rinse.
When to do this
This is a targeted check when milk sprays or foam weakens, especially if the daily guided milk-system cleaning has not cleared the symptom. It complements the automatic rinse and cleaner cycle. Check the exact frother supplied with your E8 generation before separating its pieces.
Supplies and cautions
- Fresh water and a clean surface for small detachable components
- JURA milk-system cleaner only if a dried-on deposit requires soaking
- The model manual’s frother assembly drawing
Hot steam can burn. Wait for the frother to cool before removal and never operate the E8 with the frother loose. JURA warns that a poorly cleaned or loosely mounted frother can detach during steam discharge. Keep cleaner away from children and follow its label.

Clean the detachable frother
- Stop milk preparation and allow the frother to cool. Pull off the milk pipe and rinse it thoroughly under running water.
- Remove the fine-foam frother and separate only its designed detachable pieces according to the model diagram. Keep their order on a clean surface.
- Rinse each piece under running water. For stubborn dried milk, immerse the parts in the manual’s 250 mL water plus one dosing unit of JURA milk-system cleaner, then rinse each thoroughly.
- Reassemble with every piece firmly connected and refit the frother and milk pipe. Run the guided milk-system program if due; test with a small milk preparation.
If it still sprays
Look for a cracked or loose connector and verify the milk pipe is fitted properly. Our E8 milk-frother diagnosis covers supply and flow checks beyond a dirty outlet. Do not probe internal steam plumbing. Replace a damaged compatible frother or contact JURA service.
FAQ
Is the cleaner cycle enough for hardened milk?
The manual separately describes dismantling and rinsing when foam is weak or sprays.
Can I use a household descaler here?
No. Use the milk-system cleaner specified by JURA for this job.
