Start with what you can observe, then choose the guide for the exact model printed on your machine. Similar-looking coffee makers can use different controls, cleaning cycles and replacement parts. If you do not know the model yet, use the machine finder or browse by brand.
If a repair quote is already on the table, use our Repair vs Replace Calculator to compare the cost and expected years of use.

Water and brewing
First notice whether the machine powers on, whether its pump runs and where any water goes. Those details separate a supply problem from a blocked brew path.
- Breville Barista Express: no water coming out
- Nespresso Vertuo Next: not pumping water
- Keurig K-Supreme: brewing a partial cup
- De’Longhi Magnifica Evo: no coffee coming out
- Philips 3200: grinder runs but no coffee comes out
- Saeco Xelsis: no coffee coming out
- JURA E8: coffee only comes out in drips
Pressure, grinder and steam
On an espresso machine, a shot with low pressure can be a grind or dose issue; a silent grinder or missing water flow points to a different check. Choose the symptom before considering a repair.
- Barista Express: low pressure and pressure gauge not moving
- Barista Express: grinder not working, grinder jammed or grinder settings
- Barista Express: steam wand not working
- Gaggia Classic Pro: common flow, brewing and steam problems
Leaks, lights and error messages
For a displayed code or warning, browse the error-code and indicator database by brand and model.
For a leak, note where the first drop appears and whether the machine is idle or brewing. For a warning, record the exact light pattern or message before resetting anything.
- Keurig K-Supreme: leaking water and Nespresso Vertuo Next: leaking water
- Vertuo Next: blinking orange light
- Magnifica Evo: warning and error lights
- Philips 3200: AquaClean light blinking and Calc Clean light stays on
- JURA E8: Error 8; check your E8 generation and the complete display message first.
For routine care, try the descaling calculator and filter replacement calculator. These provide reminders alongside your model manual and machine alerts.
Cleaning and descaling
Routine descaling and a light that remains on after a completed cycle are different tasks. Follow the matching guide, especially when a machine requires a full rinse stage.
- Descale K-Supreme or diagnose its descale light that will not turn off
- Descale Vertuo Next
- Descale Philips 3200 LatteGo
- Descale Barista Express
Stop and get professional help if you notice smoke, a burning smell, damaged wiring or water near electrical parts. Unplug the machine only when it is safe to do so. Guides for routine checks do not authorize opening a powered appliance.
